There are two types of adventures – a story game and something like an endless mode with an emphasis on solving cases.

At the beginning, our hero is placed in the judge’s office and given a simple test case for consideration. The main character’s son beat another boy on the street.

Making each court decision is actually a very difficult matter, essentially representing a set of mini-games with global consequences. Every day, depending on our successes, we will be given influence points, which can help a little in some aspects.

Let’s consider all the elements of the sentencing process.

Diary. Very important information item. Here in one place we collect information about our relationships with factions, reputation, global modifiers and their impact, information on the number of certain sentences.

Case materials. Every time a serious crime is considered, case materials are formed on the table. They may consist of one or more documents, after studying which you need to build a strategy for interrogating the accused and witnesses.

There are special marks in the margins of the case materials. By comparing the text of the materials and these marks, it is necessary to formulate questions for the accused and recreate the connections present in the case.

The number of attempts is quite limited, so you need to be as thoughtful as possible. In addition, suspects can introduce traps into this “game” – icons that are completely irrelevant; if you play inattentively, you can lose your attempts very poorly.

Report. A little later in the game, each time the events in the courtroom are reviewed, you will need to draw up a report that will show how well the player understood the case. A protocol will also be collected here, including the events that took place in the courtroom.

– Faction opinion. In this crazy world you will have to maneuver between the interests of factions, otherwise the game will simply end.

– In the future, they will bring “simple cases” that will need to be considered according to a simplified scheme.

If, based on the results of the review, sentences are passed: release or imprisonment, then the case ends there.

If the ultimate measure is chosen – the guillotine, then we will be able to participate in one more event. You can choose to either make a speech in front of the crowd (the beginning of the mini-game) or simply pull the string (without the mini-game).

A successful approach will increase reputation levels, an unsuccessful one will lower it, pulling the string will have no effect.

The mini-game will appear in other activities in the future, for example, when talking with characters.

When the working day is over the hero goes home. Here his family is waiting for him, visitors can also come according to the plot. Again – according to the plot, sometimes the hero can go somewhere on his own initiative.

But he still spends most of his time at home. And here too there are levels of reputation with each family member.

After some time, several more strategy games will be opened to us. This is the seizure of influence in the areas of Paris and weaving intrigues against powerful enemies.

I won’t spoil the intrigue. Let me just say that it’s very interesting.

The War for Paris is a small global strategy where our agents (there are several types) clash in every possible way with enemy agents or with random incidents in the form of various kinds of uncontrolled units.

In addition, we will be instructed to build a special statue in our main area, which will globally affect the game. You can also build useful buildings in your main area.

Let’s look at the pros and cons of the game and summarize.

+ Simple, but at the same time beautifully executed graphics.

+ Excellent music and sound accompaniment.

+ The atmosphere of revolutionary Paris is conveyed perfectly.

+ A wonderful story involving historical events. Each case under consideration is a serious addition to the plot; it is interesting to investigate the incidents.

+ A well-implemented legal process in which a lot of factors must be taken into account.

+ A large number of interesting mini-games.

THINGS THAT CAN BE BOTH A PLUS AND A MINUS:

+- In my opinion, they sometimes give too deadly debuffs, even in the case of some minimal success. For my game this turned out to be a minus; at some point one of the indicators simply ran out and, accordingly, the game ended. On the other hand, the whole passage was terribly interesting for me personally, there were a lot of situations “what if I did this or that”.

– To achieve some kind of sane plot ending, you will have to replay almost every day or event many times. I didn’t do this and the game ended early. But if you replay it, it will be less interesting, it seems to me. In my opinion, it would be worth making the system more tolerant of player mistakes, especially since a number of correct actions are quite unobvious.

An unusual good RPG that includes a lot of interesting things. Many beautiful comic inserts, a plot connected to historical events and characters, a good storyline of the main character and his family, interaction with a large number of factions and all sorts of sudden (if you play for the first time) events.
